News For The Month

In my update last month I told yall that I am wanting to upgrade my equipment that I use for my podcast. There are several things that I am wanting to get for my podcast, but after a suggestion from one of my listeners last night, I have had to add something to my list of wants.

Mark Wardell, sent me an email suggesting a club for a future club spotlight but he also made another suggestion that I really liked. He suggested that in my club spotlights, I do an interview with one of the club officers rather than just talking about it myself. I really love this idea, and I would like to implement it. I think that I will be able to with the equipment that I have now, but i am not to sure about the quality that it will be. So I have added a couple items t my “Podcast Wish List” on One of the items that I have added is a mixer board. I found a nice Behringer Xenyx 302USB Mixer that looks to fit my needs currently and is priced at a level where I will hopefully be able to pull off soon. All the stuff that I am needing to set up my podcast studio comes to about $300, so while it is reachable, it is still a little ways off.

Another thing that happened to me the past month is a lot of down times for my site. I have no idea what was going on with my host, but for about a week and half I was getting “You website is down” messages that lasted for a couple hours. I argued back and forth with my host, and they just kept saying that it was something on my end even though I tried my site on several different computers on several different internet connections, even on my phone and it still was down. So I am looking at switching hosts to like Host Gator or Blue Host, but that means another $120 or so for a years hosting. The worst part is I still have another year and half with this host because they were running a special when I signed up and was able to purchase three years. Maybe I will use this host for another endeavor that I will talk about a little later in this post.

Podcast vs Blog Posts

I have come to the conclusion that I think I am going to back off on my posts. The last couple updates I have said that I was going to try and do one blog post and one podcast a week. As yall can tell from the list of posts above, all I have done this month is my podcast episodes. As yall have heard me say the last couple months, my wife has started a new blog about our journey as foster parents called More Than Safe. I have been writing some on there and helping her get her blog going good so it has taken time away from this blog.

On top of that, I have decided that I wanted to spend some more time with my family and eventually work from home. My current job does not allow for that, so I have been looking for some other form of income and recently stumbled across a course to become a Virtual Assistant. VA’s make pretty good money and they work from home as well. They also work for themselves so they are able to spend more time with family, take vacations easier and being their own boss. All these things are things that I would really like to have. So after much research, I found a course that I wanted to take and have been working on it.

So, my wife’s blog, my self employment endeavor, and wanting to still spend more time with my family, my time is limited, so in order to keep my quality of my posts, I am pulling back on the quantity.
