News For The Month

August finally made it here and has gone away. August is probably one of my favorite and least favorite months of the year, especially over the past couple years. I dislike August because it is so bloody hot! This year, though, it wasn’t to bad, I think we only had like 15-18 days where the high temperature was over 100!

Twenty years ago, I didn’t like August at all because that meant that it was time to go back to school. Fast forward fourteen years and August started to get a little better because I married the love of my life on the 29th. When the good really started to outweigh the bad when talking about August was two years ago when we first got kids. August means that it is time for THEM to go back to school and FREEDOM for me and my wife for about 9 ½ hours!

In July, I started to take a course on becoming a Virtual Assistant. I am trying to find a way to get away from my “9-5” job and work from home so I can have more time with my family and help my wife more around our home. After completing that course and working on trying to find someone that would hire me to help them with their business, my time is growing even more limited than it has been in the past, so I have decided to make a couple changes in my life.

From now on, I will be doing everything dealing with my podcast at work(at least until I have my own office and get my VA business going). That means that everything that I have been doing on Tuesdays, when my episodes come out, I won’t be able to do anymore. So I have decided to change my podcast episode release day to Thursday instead so that I can do all those things on Thursday while I’m a work.

Being that I now have to do everything at work, I probably will not be able to switch to the interview style podcast like I was hoping to, so I will be going back to a solo head style. I am, however, thinking of bringing something back that I did when I first started this podcast and do a news segment. Since I have a few extra days this week to get it all done I am going to do be doing some formating and planning on how they will be and going from there. So tune in August 8th and see what the new changes are and please let me know what yall think about the changes.

Equipment Update

As far as my equipment changes go, there hasn’t been any change on that front. Last month I told yall about some issues that I have been having with my laptop which is what I do 95% of my work on. This last month, I have been having more and more issues with it. Namely being my wifi stopped working after about half an hour. So for the most part, I am having to do most of my work on my current tablet which is a Windows tablet. This would be a very big deal, except that it doesn’t have any USB jackes or Mic jack so I can’t record on it. I not even sure if it has enough “horsepower” to handle recording anyway.

So I am looking at getting at least an IPad 2 to start using. If I get a camera kit with it, I will be able to use my headset or a USB mic when I get a new one. I had planned on buying one today, however, we had three of our foster kids go home this month and so our budget is going to be a little tight until we get some new placements, because more of the money that I make with my job is having to go to pay for things that normally our foster income pays for, namely a bunch of school supplies and clothes.
