Are You Still Alive?

Hello everybody! I’m sure that yall might be wondering where I have been. Well, let’s see if I can make a long story short. However, before I do that, I want to thank all of yall for sticking with me for all the new people that have signed up for my email list.

If you have listened to my last podcast, ep 100, then you will have some sort of idea where exactly I have been. If you haven’t here is the jist of the episode. After making 102 podcast episodes on a weekly basis for a little over a year, it was getting to the point where that is where my free time was all going and my family life was suffering because of it. Ham radio is a hobby, pure and simple. Unfortunately, hobbies typically don’t pay the bills and what little bit of money that I had coming into the podcast was basically just covering the cost of the hosting.

So I ended the podcast, it is still up and you can listen to it. I am paying $5 a month to continue the hosting fees to keep it up and have moved the website itself to my business host. So I have lowered the costs of running this site to about as low as I can. I had thought about moving the podcast episode to my website host, but I just looked at the download numbers and I am still getting over 2000 downloads a month. That is between a third and a half of what I was getting when I was constantly putting up episodes.

Hmm, Go figure!

I thought that I would just write blog posts for the website because I still had good traffic coming to the site and people were still reading my stuff and were useful to them. This is something that I could do at work or when I am home alone with the kids or something like that.  Unfortunately, I haven’t been doing very good at that.

So what have I been doing?

Well, if you have been with me for a while, you might remember that I was making signs as part of my podcast swag store. I made a few of them before I stopped doing my podcast. I will admit now, they weren’t the greatest, but they were my first ones so it’s understandable right? Here is an example of one of the signs I made while I was still doing my podcast.

It is just like going back to the first few episodes of my podcast and hearing how bad I was then compared to how I was in the end.

Next Business Venture

Over the years, I have tried to start several businesses to supplement our family income and most of them were flops. Honestly, this website and podcast were the best I had done to that point, but it still wasn’t enough to justify the time I was spending away from my family.

I enjoyed making the few signs that I did for listeners, that I decided to give that a go for my next business venture. I convinced my wife that this time would be different, and she finally agreed.

2xC Products was born!

We officially launched our new business in March of 2018 called 2xC Products. We make custom made wood signs and other items and have done fairly decent this year so far. I think I have finally found something that is going to take off and that I enjoy doing.

Here are a few of the signs that I have made. As you can tell, I’ve gotten a lot better.

The last picture in this group is what started a chain reaction that has brought me back behind the microphone though. I had a sign like this posted on the Facebook marketplace. It was seen by a lady named Kim Davis, well soon to be Kim Davis. She was wanting this sign for her wedding that was about 2 days away. She said she didn’t have to have it by her wedding, that she could wait until after.

My thoughts were though, why not go above and beyond and get it done by her wedding. Not only would it make her extremely happy, but also give exposure to my business at the wedding.

While that thought didn’t go exactly the way that I had it pictured in my head, something did come out of it. It turned out that she was the owner of an internet radio station here in my local area. One of the programs that she has is a small business spotlight, where she brings small businesses to the station, and puts them “on the air” on the station and also through Facebook Live.

My wife and I got some products together and went to the show. This show led to us doing a vendor emporium for a Staycation weekend in my town where we made some sales. That is not the biggest thing that it led to though.

If you would like to check out some of the signs that I have done or possibly order a sign, you can check out our website at, on our facebook page or on YouTube

Second Chance Parenting

The week after the vendor emporium, we were asked if we would like to do a show on her radio station about our journey through foster care and into adoption. This was a great offer, both my wife and I have really wanted a way to help out other parents or want to be parents with navigating their journey. We wish we would’ve had someone when we started.

Of course, we agreed! So starting two weeks ago on the 16th of July we had our very first show. We talked about who we were and a basic overview of what the show was going to be about.

Our next show is this coming Monday at 11:30 am CDT.

If any of yall would like to check it out or maybe know someone who would check out our facebook page at and the station page at

Well, that is pretty much it yall. I am going to try and at least do a couple blogs posts a month, hopefully, get back to at least once a week. Thank you to all of you for sticking with me and for yalls support.

Until next time yall,
