Carl Gardenias, WU6D, Re-Elected Section Manager For Orange, CA

Hey everybody and welcome back to Everything Hamradio. Today we are talking about the re-elected section manager for Orange, CA, Carl Gardenias, WU6D. I reached out to Carl, but I did not receive anything back from him. Oddly enough, none of the re-elected Section Managers have gotten back with me except for one saying that he was inundated with emails and would get back to me as soon as he could.

So I had to do this the hard way, and honestly, the only thing that I could find on Carl, was his QRZ bio, so, check it out…

I would like to start by saying, “I reached into the sky and found a friend – 73-.” This was given to me by my elmer W0OQQ (SK). I would like to thank my other elmers W6NSN(SK) an active ham for 76 years, tnx Dad, and W9RXC (SK).

I have been active in radio since the age of 10, constructing crystal radios and shortwave listening. Became WN6RMN in 1969 and has operated from South Dakota, Illinois, South Korea, China and California and life member of the ARRL. My wife Cathy, K6VC and I share a ham shack in Perris, CA is made up of a US Tower 72’, Steppir DB36 – 6m thru 40m, with an 80m dipole, 3 phased verticals on 160m “End Fire” six (6) directions. 2 beverages at 720′, 25″ loop antenna and 2m /220m/70cm.

Service to the community: ARRL Orange Section Manager (Orange, Inyo, Riverside, and San Bernardino County), a voluntary/elected position since 2003 http://www.orange-arrl.org. Special appointment by the ARRL President to the Ad Hoc Planning Committee (National Committee Authorized by the ARRL Board in 2002) President of the Southern California DX Club, Chairperson of the International DX Convention, base Mars Director, Amateur Radio Instructor, VE ARRL, W5YI, scoutmaster, Arrowhead Council scoutmaster training coordinator, Indian guides/princesses YMCA nation chief. One of the promotors of Amateur Radio Expo (promotes the hobby and youth involvement in Amateur Radio). Instructor for the ARRL EC001 course.

Awards: Southern California DX Club DXer of the year 2000, DXCC, WAS, WAZ, Bicentennial WAS award, The Volunteer Service Award Rapid City, South Dakota 1972 Flood, BSA Silver Beaver Award, District Achievement Award, Wood Badge.

Retired 25 yrs US Air Force, Missile Facilities R&D, and retired UC Irvine. I have a B.A.degree in Business Management from University of Redlands and certificates from UC Riverside in Facility Management and Educational Facilities.

I was hoping to have some more information for yall about these new section managers, but alas I have not been able to find much. Today’s post was originaly planned to be on the Arkansas Section Manager, but I could not find ANY information about him and his QRZ bio just said to qso via LOTW or SASE envelope.
