Share

Hey everybody and welcome back to Everything Ham Radio. this is the last post on the new Section Managers. I am actually missing James Ferguson, N5LKE, the Section Manager from Arkansas. I wrote him several emails and never heard anything back from him nor could I find anything online about him.

So in this post we are going to be talking about Malcolm Keown, W5XX, from Mississippi.

Malcom Keown, W5XX
Malcom Keown, W5XX – MS Section Manager

Malcom was licensed in 1958 as a Novice in Chattanooga, Tennessee, then got my Extra in 1964 at the FCC Office in Atlanta.

He graduated from the University of Chattanooga in Physics in 1965 and 1968 and from the University of Florida in Environmental Engineering in 1973.

He spent his professional career at the U.S. Army Waterways Experiment Station in Vicksburg, Mississippi working on military and civil projects.

Malcom has been married for 53 years and has 4 children.

Malcom loves to work DX and contests and, of course, be a section manager! He became Section manager for MS in 1998. No other candidates were interested, so He decided to step up for a two year term and has been at it ever since.

Since being Section manager what kind kind of things have you done or assisted with?

Primarily preparing a Section Report each month, representing the ARRL at Hamfests, speaking at club meetings, and keeping up with the numerous administrative duties that go along with being SM.

What are your plans or what would you like to see happen in your section during your next term?

Rebuild ARRL Membership.

I hope this gives you a little insight as to the Mississippi section manager. If you have any questions or would like to congratulate him on his re-election to the Mississippi section manager, you can contact him at w5xx at Arrl dot net
